The Unofficial Star Wars the Old Republic Strategy Guide
CLASSES
ne of the first choices you
make is selecting your class
for your character. While all
classes can fill a damage role, some have a
strength towards tanking or healing, some
have a preference for toe to toe combat
and others from a distance. Finding the
right class for you can mean some time
trying them all out but this section hopes to
at least point you in the right direction.
O
An important item to note is that at a
basic level, there are only 4 main classes so
that if you want to play a Sith Warrior you
can feel safe knowing that it's a near mirror
to the Jedi Knight. Faction has an impact in
PvP, quests, story and being able to play
with friends but it doesn't have a large
impact on classes.
Class Basics
With 4 main classes available, Knight /
Warrior, Consular / Inquisitor, Smuggler /
Imperial Agent and Trooper / Bounty
Hunter, your final choices are actually
Advanced Classes, Roles and Playstyles.
Every single advanced class can
play as a damage role. The ones listed
in the following table are the class specific
roles that differentiate them from the other
advanced class. For example, a Jedi Knight
can opt to be a Guardian Tank or DPS or
they can choose a Sentinel who can only
DPS.
